Trail-Tested Protection. Precision Fit. Purpose-Built Design.
Say goodbye to bulky bolt-on bumpers. Our JL Rear Frame Chop Bumper is engineered for serious trail use—with a design that requires trimming your JL’s rear frame rails to dramatically improve departure angle. It’s one of the tightest-fitting bumpers available for the 2018+ Wrangler JL.
Frame Chop = Real Off-Road Gains
Using the included cutting jig, the frame chop process allows this bumper to sit high and tight—tucked in closer than any bolt-on design. This provides critical clearance for technical descents, ledges, and those tight rock trails.

Built for hard use, Not Just Looks
Choose from 3/16" aluminum for weight savings, or 3/16" steel for extra durability. Regardless of body material, every bumper includes laser-cut, 1" thick steel recovery points that bolt directly into the JL frame.
Why This bumper Stands Out

- 3/16" thick main body – it's your choice in steel or aluminum
- 1" thick bolt-in steel recovery points – laser cut for precision
- Covers and protects factory JL rear body mount brackets for a clean rear-end look
- Integrated Baja Designs® S2 light cutouts
- Fits 2018–Present Jeep Wrangler JL (2-door & 4-door)
- No Back Up Sensor Provisions
- Made in the USA
- Takes advantage of every bit of departure angle - requires rear frame rail modification (cutting jig included)

jl rear frame chop faqs
This bumper by default comes with the more subtle "Eagle" logo; not the full name cutout. Some of the photos in here display prototypes and early demo bumpers that were meant for show vehicles and brand awareness.
The full logo cutout is available upon special request however.
Grab a cut off wheel and your grinder, some touch up paint for your frame, any coating you wish to apply for your bumper, and grab your hand tools.
Once you've got all of that ready, unbolt your old rear bumper, and get ready to use the included cutting and marking jig for the frame rails!
Plan to take your time when doing your frame chop! The installation usually takes only a couple of hours however.
No, however we do offer the Baja S2s on our site!
No. If you have back up sensors from the factory, you'll be losing that feature. We recommend the Tazer for the JL in order to disable this feature and any warnings from it's removal.
Unless your frame has been modified or damaged, you should not have any issues coating this prior to a final installation. If the frame has any previous modifications or damage, than it's likely you'll want to test fit prior to coating anything.
No. These ship bare metal!
Products are shipped bare metal unless otherwise specified. Bare metal products may have scratches or surface imperfections as a result of raw material handling, manufacturing, and fabrication. However, these imperfections are easily covered up with a textured powder coat finish. Additional finishing, sanding, and prep work may be required if you wish to also have them finished with a smooth powder coat or paint.
If you opt for aluminum, these are 5052-H32 alloy that measures 3/16" thick.
If you opt for steel, these come in ASTM A36 mild steel alloy that measures 3/16" thick.
Recovery points are 1" thick steel regardless of material choices for the body.
